Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Walker (nee Day)

February 12, 1944 – May 3, 2024

Age 80, of Amherst, NY, loving wife for 58 years of David S. Walker, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024. Libby was born in Martinsville, WV on February 12, 1944. She is survived by her daughter Robin B. Fortier and her son Stuart A. Walker and his partner Harland Kayani. Libby had five grandchildren, Kyle, Noah, June, Ryan, and Violet Fortner as well as one great granddaughter, Rosalyn Olive Nettleton. Also surviving is her sister, Diane Pavlic and her husband Melvin Pavlic as well as her nephew Jonathan Pavlic. 

While earning her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy she drove a school bus. Previously she taught kindergarten at School 91 in Buffalo. Libby worked for Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers (BFNC) and Catholic Charities, where she was Director of an Adult Day Care Center. Libby loved to travel, making several trips to Europe with her sister Diane. She and David also owned a home in Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island SC where they spent their winters. Libby loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She would prepare festive celebrations for birthdays and holidays. She also loved doing art projects, using her artistic skills to prepare for the Christmas season. In her spare time Libby enjoyed playing the piano. She loved going to a casino with her friend Maryann Dietzer. She also enjoyed the frequent company of another close friend, Bonnie McGirr. 

Libby was predeceased by her parents Edgar Allen Day, and Margerie Day (Ball). 

Libby’s life will be celebrated at a service conducted by David’s brother, Rev. George W. Walker III at a private graveside ceremony in Forest Lawn.

    My deepest and sincere condolences to the Walker and Rodgers Families. I just have fond memories of Libby at camp for many years. Thank you for memories Libby….Bill Hoffarth….
